Hotpoint
HOTPOINT STARTED in
1904 as the Pacific Electric Heating Co. In 1911, due to
the popularity of his iron with a hot point, a heated
tip, founder Earl Richardson changed the name of his
company to Hotpoint.
IN 1918, GENERAL Electric purchased Hotpoint and
merged it with the Hughes Electric Heating Co., which
made electric stoves, forming a subsidiary known as the
Edison Electric Appliance Co. By the mid-1920s, all the
products sold by Edison Electric Appliance were sold
using the Hotpoint name. Just after World War II, the
Edison company became Hotpoint Inc., and in 1952
Hotpoint became a division of GE |
